Compassion for People Through the Transformation of Suffering
Through the meditation presented here, one can open their heart and release existing suffering. One learns to understand and forgive the pain and anger of their parents. At the same time, one will also be able to transform their own anger and pain. Gradually, a comprehensive compassion for all people develops. By deeply contemplating the suffering of another person and recognizing the causes of their torment, the gate to love and compassion has opened in the heart.
Every person carries within them the seeds for joy and happiness, but also for pain and anger. The first step of the meditation “Compassion for People Through the Transformation of Suffering” is to perceive these seeds and learn to understand their characteristics. Once the true causes of pain and anger are grasped, the heart becomes calm and light. It is now easier to transform negative emotions and develop understanding for other people, even if their actions are hurtful and their words unkind. Love and compassion expand ever more strongly in one’s own heart – until one is finally even able to spread the energy of love and compassion and help other people transform their pain and anger.
Instructions for Performing the Meditation
You can practice the Qigong meditation exercise presented here sitting on a chair or on the floor. If you are sitting on a chair, place your feet shoulder-width apart, parallel to each other. If you are practicing sitting on the floor, you can meditate in the lotus position, half-lotus position, or cross-legged.
Once you have assumed a comfortable sitting position, place your hands, palms facing upwards, in front of your lower abdomen, one inside the other. Women place the right hand in the left, men vice versa. The tip of the middle finger of the upper hand rests approximately in the middle of the lower palm. The tips of the thumbs lightly touch. Alternatively, you can also rest your hands relaxed on your thighs, with palms also facing upwards.
Sit completely relaxed. Close your eyes and gently place the tip of your tongue against your upper palate. Smile. Then, accompanied by the audio file, begin the meditation.
To conclude the meditation, gently rub your hands together, lightly massage your face, head, ears, and neck, and stroke your lower back a few times with your palms.
The audio file is approximately 15 minutes long. After just 1-2 weeks of practice, you will notice a positive change in your relationship with your parents and fellow human beings.
